The dreams of a new fire station took a large step forward on October of 1973 when Carroll Slatcher, Lawrence Elliott, Jim Ellis, Bill Hearn, Edward Callaway, Norman Hastings and John T. On September 21, 2004 the Delaware State Fire Prevention Commission granted the Laurel Fire Department a temporary substation. The Laurel Fire Department conducted a Strategic plan for the future that recognized the need for 2 additional stations. 1 located east of US 13 and 1 in the Bethel / Portsville......
