The dreams of a new fire station took a large step forward on October of 1973 when Carroll Slatcher, Lawrence Elliott, Jim Ellis, Bill Hearn, Edward Callaway, Norman Hastings and John T. Culver were appointed to a building committee. After much discussion had taken place regarding the new fire station......

On September 21, 2004 the Delaware State Fire Prevention Commission granted the Laurel Fire Department a temporary substation. The Laurel Fire Department conducted a Strategic plan for the future that recognized the need for 2 additional stations. 1 located east of US 13 and 1 in the Bethel / Portsville......
