Firey Crash - Poplar Street Bridge

On Sunday evening September 26th at approx 1954 hours the LFD along with automatic mutual aid including, Blades, Seaford, and Sharptown Fire Departments were dispatched for a vehicle submerged at the poplar street bridge in Laurel. SCEMS 102 arrives on scene first and advises car is not submerged, however is overturned and on fire, but subjects are out of vehicle. Deputy 81 arrives on scene in command 81 and confirms medic report and cancels the box assignment from surrounding Departments. Ambulance 81 responds and arrives and assits ALS with patient care. Rescue 81 arrives and personnal prepares for extinguishment of fire. Engine 3 arrives and places its front pre-connect in service and quickly extinguishes fire. Fire crews remained on scene until vehicle was pulled from bridge, and bridge was examined by DEL-DOT. Two patients were transported during incident, one pediatric child, and one adult. Deputy 81 placed incident under control at 2010 hours, with last units clearing at 2110.
